Ear stack guide: huggies, studs and ear cuffs

Bold Huggies, on a warm paper backdrop

An ear stack is simply several earrings worn together. Three types of earring do most of the work.

Studs

Studs sit on the lobe with a post and a back. Small studs are the quietest way to fill a second or third piercing, like the Adele Pavé Circle Studs.

Huggies

Huggies are small hoops that sit close around the lobe. They add a curve to the stack without hanging down. Try the Bold Huggies (13 mm across) or the Christa Rounded Dome Huggies (16 mm).

Ear cuffs

Ear cuffs hug the rim or the middle of the ear. The Camilla Double Band Ear Cuff and the Parallel Ear Cuff slip on without a piercing.

Putting it together

  1. Wear the largest piece in the first hole and go smaller as you move up.
  2. Keep one finish across the ear and mix shapes and textures instead.
  3. Leave a little space: an empty spot between pieces keeps the stack clean.
  4. Your ears do not have to match. A full stack on one side and a single stud on the other works well.
